Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Elementary Education and a teaching certificate from Washington State. Since that time, I have been teaching all levels of elementary school. I have also taught teachers. I'm working to receive a National Board Certification. I have worked in Title 1 schools and have taught ESL. I also have done work as a Math Interventionist and Instructional Coach and I worked to help teachers with approaches for teaching struggling students. Recently, I was an OSPI Math Fellow for the Puget Sound Region. I feel strongly that my students need a strong foundation and I enjoy helping them to strengthen it. I strive to motivate my students and build confidence by using fun and an encouraging atmosphere. I believe that a student's confidence is built by helping them to gradually take control of their own learning and become self sufficient in their studies. I think that the journey of learning encourages children and inspires them to always be working to better their situation. I am qualified to teach all elementary school and middle school subjects, such as Math, Phonics, Reading, and English. I also help students with preparation for taking standardized tests and general study skills.
